Tulip bakeri Lilac Wonder

Tulip bakeri Lilac Wonder is a cultivar of Tulip Saxatilis.  The clusters of flowers opens a lovely delicate mauve pink with yellow centres. Consider planting Tulip Lilac Wonder in and amongst your periwinkle as it blooms simultaneously.  To further the enhance the gardens mid season charm, incorporate botanical narcissus such as Mother Duck or Tete Boucle along side Lilac Wonder.  

Specie tulips are often referred as wild tulips, share characteristics similar to how they grow in their natural habitat.   The specie variety of tulips have relatively smaller blooms on shorter stems compared to their cultivated counterparts. Specie tulips are diverse in blooming times. There are the  very early, Pulchella Violacea, to mid season flowering Dasystemon Tarda.  Excellent at coming back each year if left undisturbed,  Ideal for rock gardens and boarder plantings. ,
