Dahlia Decorative Strawberry Cream

Dahlia ‘Strawberry Cream’ is a charming decorative dahlia with softly rounded blooms in pale pink delicately streaked and flushed with strawberry-pink and raspberry. The flowers are about 10 cm (4") across, support on strong sturdy stems. This variety blooms from midsummer until the first frost, and its romantic, vintage-like colour palette makes it a favourite for garden borders and cut-flower arrangements

The key to growing healthy dahlias is planting them in warm soil.  In Eastern Canada this typically means early June.  For a head start you can pot up the tubers in mid to late April and keep them indoors until planting time.  Dahlias thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.  They begin blooming in mid-July and continue right up until the first frost. These plants make excellent cut flowers and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
