Tulip Purissima or commonly known as White Emperor is an beautiful heirloom variety.  The petals are white with a touch of yellow at the base.  When first opening the flower looks like it will bloom yellow but be patient and watch as the petals turn a brilliant snow white.  Fosteriana tulips, also known as early Emperor tulips boast unique shaped flowers that are distinguished by their notable width and length.  These tulips feature a distinctive vase shaped flower, a totally different shape than the single early tulip varieties.   Plant with your favourite early narcissus such as Ice follies or Pure white. To ensure success plant in a sunny spot with well drained soils.
