Dahlia Decorative Thomas Edison

Dahlia ‘Thomas Edison’ is a striking decorative dahlia known for its large, velvety, deep purple blooms that can reach up to 20 cm (8") across. The richly coloured fully double flowers is excellent for cutting and standout focal points in the garden. Blooming from midsummer until frost, this classic variety adds bold, dramatic color to borders, beds, and floral arrangements.

The key to growing healthy dahlias is planting them in warm soil.  In Eastern Canada this typically means early June.  For a head start you can pot up the tubers in mid to late April and keep them indoors until planting time.  Dahlias thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.  They begin blooming in mid-July and continue right up until the first frost. These plants make excellent cut flowers and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
